TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Police confiscated Rp40 million from a gang of robbers specializing in targeting bank customers that are believed to be captained by a legislative candidate.

Police managed to arrest the gang members on March 13, following a police report on March 4th from a victim identified as Fadhlul Anshar, who had his money robbed from him while he briefly exited the car to check on a flat tire at GOR Pakansari, Cibinong, Bogor.

“According to their testimony, they acted their crimes five times in Bogor, Bekasi, Tangerang, and Jakarta,” said Adj. Commissioner Benny Cahyadi, Police Criminal Investigation Unit Chief on Tuesday.

Police revealed the legislative candidate’s initials known to be SP (36), while the rest of the members are identified as AM (32), NJ (42), HR (28) and NA (31).

This group specializes in a specific type of robbery through a flat tire scam.

Asked upon the details of the legislative candidate, Benny Cahyadi refused to reveal the political relations of the suspect. “The legislative candidate acts as a captain, leader of the team,” said Benny.
