TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Candidate for Vice President Number 02 Sandiaga Uno promised to raise the creative industry as one of the focuses to create new jobs in the 2019 vice presidential debate.

"In the field of culture, we have many aspects of the creative industry that can be appointed," said Sandiaga Uno when presenting his vision and mission at the Vice Presidential Candidate Debate at the Sultan Hotel, Jakarta, Sunday, March 17 2019.

In addition to the creative industry, Sandiaga Uno described two mainstay programs in alleviating unemployment, namely lifting OK OCE to the national level and providing a Ready for Work House (Rumah Siap Kerja). According to the former Deputy Governor of Jakarta, with the OK OCE program, he will make two million new entrepreneurs in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, the Ready to Work Houses (Rumah Siap Kerja), said Sandiaga Uno, will become integrated service facilities for young people to be able to find jobs more easily. The service is planned to be available to the countryside.

Previously, the Economist for Development of Economics and Finance (Indef) Bhima Yudhistira said that the entrepreneurial concept brought by Sandiaga Uno made sense. However, current employment issues are more crucial on the demand side, rather than the supply side. In the last four years, he called the demand in the agricultural sector minus 700 thousand per year, the mining sector minus 50 thousand people per year, while the industrial sector 450 thousand people.

"So far, what has made unemployment down is the service sector, but the service sector of the quality of its workforce is actually not very good, rather than manufacturing, agriculture, and mining," Bhima said. Because of that, he said, up until now ,there were none from the two vice presidential candidates who had provided a solution to the availability of jobs, namely by stimulating the main sector that absorbed the most dominant workforce.

In addition, the program has not yet explained the capital issue. Even though the case is important for entrepreneurship. "To get KUR for startups, it turns out that beginners are not as easy as the MSMEs that are already running," Bhima said.

After the vice presidential debate tonight, the fourth presidential debate will be held at the Sudirman Hall, Jakarta on March 30. The debate only shows the presidential candidate and will have the theme of ideology, government, security and international relations. The fifth debate will be held at the Bidakara Hotel on April 13, or just four days before the voting. The debate again featured the presidential and vice presidential candidates and will have the theme of economy and social welfare, finance, investment and industry.
