KPK Visits Offices of Political Parties in Talks of Party Funding

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The political task force of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) would visit several offices of political parties on March 12 and 14, 2019, in talks of political parties funding.

“KPK’s integrated team for politics will visit offices of political parties and discuss the revision of the party funding,” said KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah Tuesday, March 12.

The anti-graft body will visit a total of six offices of political parties’ executive board (DPP) and six parties’ regional board. On March 12, the team will come to four DPP of PDIP, PKS, PKB, and Gerindra. While on March 14, the officer will visit the central office of Democrat and Golkar and the regional offices of PDIP Jakarta, PKS Jakarta, Golkar Jakarta, and Gerindra Jakarta.

KPK deputy chairman for prevention Pahala Nainggolan and director of social service directorate Giri Suprapdiono would accompany the team. Febri explained that the task force would discuss the rational and realistic calculation of the party funding needed by the party and the transparency of the funding use.

Febri said that the meeting was required to be held considering the study by KPK revealed that the root of political corruption was the party funding. “Therefore, KPK takes a preventive approach, in addition to its prosecution effort,” he concluded.
