TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Joko Driyono, the acting chief of the Indonesian Soccer Association (PSSI), has undergone two police examinations as a suspect. During the probe, Joko admitted to tampering, destroying, and eliminating evidence related to the match-fixing case.

“He admits to being an intellectual actor who ordered the three other suspects,” said National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo on Friday in his office, South Jakarta.

Joko Driyono allegedly destroyed several documents related to the case currently investigated by the police’s anti-soccer mafia task force. However, Dedi added, Joko stopped short of detailing the contents of the documents.

“We will question him next week and develop the soccer mafia case,” Dedi noted. The task force also suspected Joko Driyono of involvement in the match-fixing scandal in Indonesia.

The anti-soccer mafia task force named Joko Driyono as a suspect for tampering with evidence on February 14 by sending three of his men to steal 71 pieces of evidence at the PSSI Disciplinary Commission offices that were under police investigation and sealed with police lines.
