TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry (Kemenlu) currently awaits for the DNA test of two Indonesian nationals in Malaysia who were found mutilated. The victims were previously identified through fingerprint tests and confirmed to be Indonesians.

“Based on their fingerprints they are indeed Indonesians. But Malaysia has yet to confirm it through DNA testing,” said Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman Arrmanatha Nasir on Thursday, Feb. 21.

He said that the remains of the victims will be handed to family members once they are confirmed through the DNA test. Malaysian authority is currently investigating the case and has detained one individual for further questioning and is on the hunt for another suspect believed to be a foreign national.

Previously reported on January 29, two bodies were discovered mutilated in Buloh River, Selangor, Malaysia. The two victims are believed to be Nuryanto, a textile industry businessman from Bandung, and his partner Ai Munawaroh.
