Gov't Wants Avtur Supplied by Companies Other than Pertamina

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan agreed to the concept of having more energy companies supply jet fuel or avtur for Indonesia’s commercial flight industry.
“I think that would be great to bring competition. It shouldn’t be [monopolized],” said Luhut in an afternoon tea session at the Maritime Affairs Ministry headquarters on Wednesday.
The price of avtur made rounds after it was blamed for the rise of domestic airfares. The avtur sold in Indonesia for the commercial flight industry is currently supplied by state-run energy company Pertamina.
Meanwhile, Saturday, February 16, saw Pertamina announce it has slashed the price of avtur. This move is said to adhere to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree No.17/2019 on the base formula to calculate the price of avtur.
Pertamina announced that the price of avtur sold at the Soekarno Hatta airport is now sold at Rp7,960 per liter compared to the previous RP8,210 per liter.
