Gerindra, PKS to Discuss Jakarta Deputy Governor Candidate

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Leaders of the Justice and Prosperity Party (PKS) and the Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party will continue their discussion on the feasibility of three Jakarte Deputy Governor candidate based on results of the fit and proper test.

Chief of Jakarta Executive Board of Gerindra Mohamad Taufik, said that the parties will discuss three names instead of two, which had been announced by PKS earlier.

"In total there are three names being recommended, we will discuss it within the party," Taufik said on Thursday, February 14, 2019.

Taufik said that he would like to know the recommendation made by the fit and proper test team. The three recommended candidate will be discussed by the Gerindra Jakarta Executive Board and PKS Jakarta Regional Executive Board

Taufik asserted that the two names of potential deputy governor candidate will be determined following the discussion. Taufik added that the fit and proper test team has no authority to determine the candidate.

Previously, a member of the fit and proper test team Ubedilah Badrun, confirmed that there the team had chosen two out of three highly recommended deputy governor candidate. The two are Former Bekasi Mayor Ahmad Syaikhu, and Secretary of PKS Jakarta Regional Executive Board Agung Yulianto.

However, the names were not final. PKS and Gerindra leaders must have a discussion before signing a candidate recommendation letter for Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.
