TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta provincial administration has issued a new regulation for pedestrians around Tanah Abang Station that will take effect beginning February 7.

PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) CEO Agung Wicaksono said that the public would be barred from crossing Jl. Jatibaru Raya, which is located precisely under the multi-purpose pedestrian bridge, the Tanah Abang Skybridge.

“Jl. Jatibaru will be free of pedestrians, jaywalking, dropping off until picking up,” said Agung via a written statement Monday, February 4.

The regulation is the result of a collaboration of PT Transjakarta, PT KAI Daop 1, and PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia to realize the capital's integrated transportation system dubbed Jak Lingko in the Tanah Abang area.

The exit and entrance gates to Transjakarta bus stop and Tanah Abang Train Station have been integrated and accessible through the stairs at the south hall or the old building of Tanah Abang Station, said PT KCI CEO Wiwik Widayanti.

Those wanting to use online transportation can exit at the north hall or the new building of Tanah Abang Station, which leads to Jl. Jatibaru Bengkel. “As for pedestrians willing to enter Tanah Abang market can pass the Tanah Abang Skybridge, instead of crossing Jl. Jatibaru Raya,” Wiwik underlined.
