TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tanah Abang Skybridge is opened for a pedestrian trial starting today, December 7. The province-owned developer (PD) Sarana Jaya the test would last for a week in a bid to review its effectiveness for the pedestrian. However, the access to Tanah Abang Station is still closed.
“Tapping gate [to enter the station] is still under construction. So, tomorrow we will only open the pedestrian bridge, while the access to the station is pending on the state-owned railway operator to complete the tapping gate,” said PD Sarana Jaya CEO Yoory C. Pinontoan, on Thursday evening, December 6.
The skybridge is opened for the trial at 7 a.m until 6 p.m local time. After the trial completed, the pedestrian bridge will officially be opened for public based on the operational hour of Commuter Line.
Further, he continued, the relocation of street vendors would be conducted gradually starting Saturday, Dec. 8, or Sunday, Dec. 9.
PD Sarana Jaya Tanah commenced the construction project of Tanah Abang Skybridge in September 2018. The completion was thrice extended from the target, then finally declared finish on November 23.
Tanah Abang Skybridge project is aimed at alleviating congestion on Jalan Jatibaru Raya considering the road commonly crowded by street vendors and pedestrians. Therefore, people now could directly access Block G of Tanah Abang Market without crossing the street.
