TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tokopedia CEO William Tanuwijaya said he named Agus Martowardojo as the company’s president commissioner because he needed a seasoned mentor to help him run the company.
“I need a mentor who bears a track record as a president director at a number of corporations and had carried out multiple corporate actions, such as acquisitions or mergers,” said William in an interview published in the January 28-February 3 edition of Tempo Magazine.
On Wednesday, January 9, Tokopedia announced it had tapped Agus Martowardojo as its president commissioner. Agus, a former Bank Indonesia governor and finance minister, is expected to boost the company’s performance, particularly in accomplishing the company’s missions to become a world-class tech company and achieve digital economic equality.
William said he had never engaged in corporate actions, including acquisitions and mergers, thus Agus’ experience as a bank president director would be to Tokopedia’s advantage.
