TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The 212 Brotherhood (PA 212) gave their opinion upon Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama’s prison release tomorrow. This group is widely known to be the motor behind the major rallies in 2016 that eventually pressured for the former governor’s imprisonment.

Spokesman Novel Bamukmin said that his group has their own attitude toward Ahok’s release.

“We will wait for Ahok’s gesture once he gets out of prison,” said Novel in his brief text message sent to Tempo today.

Novel Bamukmin said that the group expects that Ahok will eventually repent after committing blasphemy and to never repeat his mistake that eventually sent the former governor behind bars for two years.

Despite being one of the most vocal figures that demanded Ahok’s imprisonment, Novel said that PA 212 has not prepared any events in reaction to the release. “We will not make a move until we see how Ahok will react [after his release],” he said.
