TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Some people might know Balinese sculptor Nyoman Nuarta for his latest work located at the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park that stands tall at an overall height of 120-meters and weighs 900 tons constructed from 754 slabs.

His Garuda Wisnu Kencana was intentionally built to be hollow in the inside to provide a greater experience for tourists visiting the sight. The interior comprises of 30-stories in total but is only open for the public up to the 20th floor. The entire structure sits at a height of 271-meters above sea level.

The reason why visitors are only limited to explore the statue’s chest area is that the head is the sacred icon of the Vishnu God, one of the principal deities of Hinduism.

Two other massive works of arts coming from Nyoman Nuarta is the Jalesveva Jayamahe Monument known to be the local icon of Surabaya, East Java. This monument portrays a Navy personnel standing toward the ocean.

Another of Nyoman`s work is located in Jakarta, to be precise, at the West Medan Merdeka Street taking the form of a horse-drawn carriage. This piece of art is 40-meters long and 4-meters tall and weighs 3 tons.
