TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Police will deploy some 2,000 joint personnel comprised of Indonesian Military Force (TNI) and provincial administration officers to guard the presidential election debate tonight, January 17.

The security officers will be divided into four rings. The tight supervision will be run by the presidential security detail (Paspampres) and TNI and Police, as ring 1 and 2. The joint personnel will also guard the area outside the building up to the parking spaces.

Personnel will be assigned too to guard the traffic around the debate location. “Police's Sabhara will stand there,” said Jakarta Metro Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono when met in the Police HQ, Thursday, January 17.

The police appealed to all volunteers or supporters of Jokowi - Ma’ruf and Prabowo - Sandiaga to abide by the regulation.

The first debate of the 2019 presidential election will take place Thursday evening, January 17, in Bidakara Hotel, South Jakarta. The General Election Commission (KPU) invited a total of 500 people to attend the event, from which each camp is allowed to bring 100 supporters.
