Lion Air Paid Baggage Policy to Take Effect in Next Two Weeks

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Lion Air has not yet imposed its paid baggage policy which was planned to take effect today, January 8, following an order from Air Transportation Directorate General of Transportation Ministry that the low-cost carrier must conduct dissemination on the new rule to the public.

The operational director of Lion Air Daniel Putut conveyed the statement when met at the Transportation Ministry building, Jakarta, Tuesday, January 8.

He said the corporate would follow the ministry’s instruction to disseminate the new regulation for two weeks as mandated on the existing policy starting from the permit issuance of the service adjustment.

Air Transportation DG would issue the permit of the adjustment of the standard operational procedure (SOP) for economic-class passenger service of Lion Air and Wings Air today.

Director General of Air Transportation Polana B Pramesti said Lion Air and Wings Air could start to implement its paid baggage policy after running dissemination to consumers for at least two weeks.

Polana said the regulation on checked baggage was noted in Article 22 of Ministerial Decree No. 185/2015 on the standard service for the economic-class passenger of domestic scheduled air transportation.
