TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Low-cost carrier Lion Air and Wings Air, members of Lion Air Group, announced they would adjust the regulation on the free baggage allowance for domestic flights, said Corporate Communications Strategic Danang Mandala Prihantoro in a written statement, Friday, January 4.

Danang explained the new rule would annul the existing free baggage allowance of 20 kilograms for each passenger of Lion Air and 10 kilograms for Wings Air passengers.

Danang said the regulation would begin to take effect on January 8, 2019, until further notice. However, the new regulation will not affect passengers who purchased tickets before January 8.

Each passenger, except babies, is allowed to bring cabin baggage with maximum weight of seven kilograms and one personal luggage such as laptop bag, baby gear, binocular, or hand luggage. “The size limit of cabin baggage is 40 cm x 30 cm x 20 cm,” he added.

Danang continued to explain would-be passengers could buy pre-paid baggage vouchers through tour and travel agents, Lion Air website, and ticket booths of Lion Air Group for additional baggage space.

Lion Air and Wings Air also offer their Excess Baggage Ticket to help every customer avoid paying a possible higher cost due to carrying larger or heavier luggage.

“Every passenger carrying baggage or luggage that weighs more than baggage allowance of seven kilograms per person will be charged based on the existing tariff on the departure date,” Danang said.
