Police Arrest Suspect of TNI Personnel Shooting

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The perpetrator of the shooting of Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) personnel Lt. Col. Dono Kuspriyanto has been arrested at his hiding place on Jalan Wijaya Kusuma, Kramatjati, East Jakarta, on early Wednesday, December 26.

“A joint team of National Police and TNI arrested the suspect at 04:24 a.m,” said Jakarta Metro Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono through a short message, today, December 26.

Argo did not further detail the arrest and the suspect’s motives on the act.

Previous reports suggested a TNI personnel was shot dead by unknown people in front of Santa Maria Fatima School on Jalan Jatinegara, Bidara Cina, East Jakarta, late Tuesday, December 25 at 23:00 local times.

Jakarta Military Command spokesman Inf. Col. Kristomei Sianturi explained that a witness saw two people riding a motorcycle passed Hermina Hospital, Jatinegara. “Based on an initial report, perpetrators on the passenger seat pointed a firearm to the victim’s car.

The hospital security officer named M. Ismail seeing the incident heard two gunshots and minutes after, seven gunshots in front of Bank Danamon.

The Toyota Kijang car with a police plate number 2334-34 stopped at 100 meters away from the crime scene. Dono was found dead in his car with gunshot wounds in his left cheek, neck, and chest.

Meanwhile, the two perpetrators who shot the TNI officer fled by riding another motorcycle. “And left evidence of one motorcycle which is abandoned in the crime site,” Kristomei added.
