TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil or Emil gave bonuses to the 2018 Asian Games and Asian Para Games athletes from the West Java Provincial Government. The hand-over ceremony was held in Bandung, Thursday, December 13.
"Why wait until now? Well, we need to budget out everything in accordance to regulations. I apologize that it took this long," Emil said.
The total bonus given by the West Java Government is approximately Rp8 billion. The amount is collected from the provincial government's state budget, the BJB Bank, as well as private donations. As many as Rp6.1 billion came from the West Java Provincial Government and the rest from other parties.
Ridwan Kamil said he was proud of the athletes' achievements, saying that most of the medals for Indonesia were won by West Java athletes.
"Our athletes were also spectacular during the Asian Para Games; half of the medals collected came from West Java athletes. It shows how remarkable the sportsmanship quality of the province," he said.
