TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Embassy in Singapore in tandem with Tourism Ministry promoted Bintan Island to 12 countries ambassadors in Singapore and Jakarta. The trip was dubbed Ambassadors' Familiarisation Trip to Bintan and Batam.
“The event takes place in Bintan Lagoon Resort, Lagoi, Binta, Riau Islands,” said Indonesian chief de mission to Singapore, Ngurah Swajaya, in a written statement released by the Embassy on Saturday, November 24. The ambassador said Bintan had many tourist destinations and attractions, including golf field.
The trip program was initiated to actualize the target of 20 million tourist arrivals in the archipelago. Bintan was chosen due to its close location to Singapore as the international hub.
“Introducing this destination to diplomatic parties is expected to spread the information to other business parties regarding tourism and investment potential in Bintan.”
Through a bilateral meeting with Singapore, Bintan was one of the destinations listed in the development of Twinning Destination. The island became the transit site for yacths by the program.
Bintan management head Saleh Umar warmly welcomed the program. He was ready to collaborate with related parties to increase the investment and tourist arrivals in Bintan. “Bintan island is a friendly region for investors,” he noted, hoping the ambassadors would promote the island and Indonesia in their respective countries.
