TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The vice-presidential candidate number 2 Sandiaga Uno viewed that the government’s 16th economic package was confusing since there was nothing that could be used as a reference.
“Overall, we cannot comment and do not want to add to the confusion,” he said in Jakarta, Wednesday, November 21.
Sandi explained that he would wait and ask the government regarding the affected micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). “What kind of employment will be created for the investments that are opened to foreigners and who will get the jobs, what regions, what commitments,” he said.
He said that MSMEs was an important point since it comes from the lower class. “Why should it be launched like this? Both Kadin (Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry) and Hipmi (Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association) questioned this. The government supporters also questioned it, let alone us,” said Sandiaga Uno.
The government recently issued the16th economic policy package, consisting of expanding facilities for reducing corporate income tax (tax holiday), relaxed the Negative Investment List (DNI), and providing tax incentives for export (DHE) based on natural resource industries.
