TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, denied that the XVI economic policy package issued by the government indicated that Indonesia has decided to comply with foreign demands. The accusation was stated by Presidential Candidate Prabowo Subianto.

"Read carefully first, then comment," Luhut said at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta on Thursday, November 22, 2018.

According to Luhut, the reason the government issued the policy package was for the benefit of the people. "Do you think that only you who love this country? We also love this country," Luhut said.

Previously, Prabowo considered the XVI policy package opens the opportunity for foreign investments to involve and control 28 industrial sectors in the Indonesia.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution explained that in the policy package, there were indeed 54 industrial sectors excluded from the Negative Investment List (DNI). However, it does not mean that foreigners can control 100 percent of the excluded industry sector.
