Anies Discloses Requirements of Deputy for Substitution of Uno

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan stated suitable criteria of Jakarta Deputy Governor to accompany him. According to Anies, the candidate must be willing to follow the vision that has been proclaimed by him.

“Don’t bring your own vision, because you join in the middle of the tenure. Don’t bring your own map, the map is a map brought by the governor,” Anies said in the riverside of Ciliwung, Condet, Jakarta, Sunday 11 November.

Anies also said that anyone had to work harder if he received a position as deputy governor in Jakarta. “So don’t be half-hearted. All out, total,” he said.

According to Anies, it does not make sense to comment if there is no official name. “But I believe the party will propose a name that is indeed competent and able to work,” he said.

The Jakarta Deputy Governor’s position was vacant since August 27, after Sandiaga Uno resigned to propose as a vice presidential candidate accompanying Prabowo Subianto in the 2019 Presidential Election.

Since then, the decision making has taken place between the two bearer parties to decide the substitution: PKS and Gerindra.

Previously, the Home Affairs Ministry had sent a letter addressed to Anies Baswedan as Governor and Chairman of the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) Prasetio Edi Marsudi to immediately fill the Jakarta governor’s position, because Jakarta is the capital city of the country and as the center of government with very high governance dynamics.
