TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) has delivered Lion Air flight JT 610’s recovered emergency locator transmitter (ELT) from the waters of Tanjung Karawang to the Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT) in Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta.
Navy Colonel Bambang T. said that the device was recovered from the depth of 30 meters; “The location was nearby the location where we found Lion Air JT 610’s flight data recorder,” said Bambang today.
Despite sustaining heavy damages, the ELT is generally in good condition, especially considering its role of transmitting signals to rescuers once its plane has crashed. The orange box located at the aircraft’s cockpit should also be able to remind pilots of the plane’s route.
According to Tempo observation, there were also two other aircraft components that were previously discovered but were just recently unloaded to the mainland in JICT; Lion Air’s navigation item and landing gear.
