TEMPO.CO, Surabaya - Presidential hopeful Joko Widodo or Jokowi on Sunday, Oct. 28, attended a closed meeting of the National Campaign Team of Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin in Surabaya. He conveyed suggestions for his campaign team to face the 2019 presidential election.
“All campaign teams, either national or regional teams, must able to explain our completed programs,” said Jokowi after the meeting in Imperium Palace Hotel, Surabaya. He then revealed his messages for his campaign teams as follows.
1. Infrastructure
Jokowi directed his campaign team to clearly explain the benefit and purpose of the infrastructure project, such as airports, port, toll roads, dams and reservoirs to the public.
2. Indonesian Health Card and Village Fund
The incumbent candidate asked his campaign team to understand and able to explain a number of his policies in welfare programs, including Indonesian Health Card, Indonesian Smart Card, Family Hope Program, non-cash food aid, agrarian and social forestry program, as well as village and sub-district fund. “I expect all teams to understand those programs,” Jokowi underlined.
3. Foreign minions
Jokowi then urged all his campaign teams to refute negative issues commonly thrown at him. For example, the issue of him being a minion of other nations. He demanded his campaign teams to dismiss the tilted issue by delivering evidence of his policies such as the management takeover of the Mahakam Block and Rokan Block from foreign companies to Pertamina.
4. Indonesian Communist Party (PKI) Issues
The campaign team of Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin is demanded to convince the public that issue regarding Jokowi as a member of the now-defunct Indonesian Communist Party (PKI) was a mere slander and hoax.
5. Foreign Workers
Jokowi further commanded his campaign teams dismiss the issue of invasion of foreign workers to Indonesia. "The team has to be able to explain what really happens because this is the common issue that continues to be attacked," he said.
