TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said that his administration is currently in talks upon relocating the Senayan Shooting Range following a recent incident that saw several stray bullets ending up at the House of Representatives (DPR) headquarters.
The governor said that he has discussed the matter with the State Secretariat, Youth and Sports Ministry, and the Indonesian Shooting and Hunting Association (Perbakin).
“The Jakarta administration will support and further facilitate its spatial planning in a much safer location,” said Anies Baswedan in City Hall on Thursday, October 18. However, the governor has yet named any potential location for the shooting range.

Anies revealed that the Senayan shooting range poses further risks since it is actually meant to be a green open space. It shares a space with other public facilities nearby such as a school, government office, and other buildings.
“I saw the past records, [cases of stray bullets] isn’t just the first or second time, but it has been a frequent occurrence,” said Anies Baswedan.
The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) headquarters was struck by several stray projectiles that were accidentally shot from the Senayan shooting range on October 15. Police named two suspects for negligence during a practice shoot.
