TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan stated that there was no disunity in society after the Jakarta governor election in 2017. The polarization because of political differences only appeared on social media.

“I have surveyed the villages, it’s normal,” said Anies, at Jakarta City Hall, Monday, October 15.

From the survey, there was no conflict in society. “On social media, it is indeed the whole world. So don’t be whiny as if (the critic) is only (from) Jakarta,” he said.

Anies gave an example, in the United States election, until now, Donald Trump supporters are still at odds with Hillary Clinton supporters. Even though the election is over.

“Brexit (Britannia Exit) feud still exists, are there any religion (applied in the feud)? There is no ideology there. But the feud continues until now,” he said.

Anies Baswedan confirmed that he would not bother with critics from the opposition side. “I appreciate and listen to criticism, but if there is uninformed criticism, I don’t need to worry,” he said.
