TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The executive director of Voxpol Center Research and Consulting Pangi Syarwi Chaniago noted the administration of President Joko `Jokowi` Widodo had four unfinished tasks during the four-year office.

The first homework, according to Pangi, is economic independence. For example, the disproportionate of export and import rate in Indonesia. China is the largest export country to Indonesia, while imported goods in the country mostly came from China.

“The economic independence issue is the topic brought up by the opponent,” said Pangi in a discussion event in Cikini, Jakarta, Thursday, Oct 18.

Panji further mentioned Jokowi’s campaign promise on handling the old cases of human right. “Semanggi, Trisakti, Talangsari, Tanjung Priok case. Those cases should not be left unclear,” he noted.

The third homework was the commitment of Jokowi to eradicate corruption. Despite Indonesia ranked in the top 20 of most corrupt countries as released by WEF in 2018 Global Competitiveness Report, Pangi opined, Novel Baswedan’s case left the public doubted the government to enforce the law on corruption.

“There is a tendency of taking a side over others in Novel Baswedan’s case which has not been revealed yet,” Pangi explained.

He continued to mention that the government must prevent and stop any form of persecution acts in Indonesia. He recalled the community who blocked Neno Warisman in the gate of Sultan Syarif Kasim (SSK) II Airport, Pekanbaru. “How come people enter the airport to block a person, and the police did not do a thing,” he added.

Furthermore, Pangi suggested Jokowi complete the homework within the one year remaining of his office. According to Voxpol survey, the satisfaction rate towards the government was at 59 percent. “At least 60 percent is the safe point,” he concluded.
