Sutopo BNPB Wins Award as Humanitarian Communication Figure

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, Head of Data Center, Information and Public Relations of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), received the 2018 Indonesia Communication Award, as a Humanitarian Communication Figure by the Ministry of Communication and Informatics in collaboration with the Indonesian Communication Bachelor Association.

“Thank You God the Almighty that I was given an award. I dedicate this award to all humanitarian actors in the country,” Sutopo said, via his Twitter account, @Sutopo_PN on Tuesday, October 16.

The day before the award was received, Sutopo underwent the chemotherapy for the stage 4B lung cancer. He was sentenced to have lung cancer since January.

"Even though I am currently undergoing the chemotherapy, my heart and mind are constantly thinking about handling the disaster in Central Sulawesi, Lombok and Mandailing Natal,” Sutopo wrote.
