PPSU Workers Find 2 Mortars in North Cipete

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Personnel from the capital's Public Facility Maintenance Agency (PPSU) found two mortars while dredging waterways in North Cipete, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Monday, September 9.

“A Gegana team, a bomb defuser unit, has been deployed," said South Jakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. Indra Jafar.

The PPSU personnel, popularly known as the orange squad, were of the capital's Environment Agency water cleaning unit (UPK). On Monday, the workers were tasked to dredge waterways around RT 12 (neighborhood unit) RW 02 (community unit) in North Cipete.

The Gegana team is still examining the mortars. "Don't know yet (active or not). But who knows if they are empty, "Indra said.
