TEMPO.CO, West Lombok - The Lombok earthquake refugees are still having difficulty getting adequate clean water to meet their daily needs while staying in the evacuation post.
“For the logistics, Thank God, it is a lot. But for clean water, we are still having difficulty in getting it,” said a refugee, Muhibah (34), a resident of Api Taik Hamlet, Guntur Macan Village, Gunung Sari District, West Lombok Regency on Wednesday, September 5.
So far, the daily needs of clean water are supplied from the tank cars distributed by the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) twice a week. But that is not enough for the thousands of refugees.
Muhibah hopes that this problem can be resolved soon. Because the refugees will stay in evacuation tents for a long time due to the condition of their homes that have been damaged after being hit by a series of earthquakes that occurred since early August 2018.
Guntur Macan Village Head, Murni said that not only water that became a problem for its residents but also the need for tarps and heavy equipment to clean up building rubbles in Lombok.
