Govt Ensures All Aircraft Ready to Transport 2018 Hajj Pilgrims

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Director General of Air Transportation Agus Santoso confirmed that all aircraft used by Garuda Indonesia and Saudia Airlines for 2018 Hajj flight has passed the ramp-check test.
He said it is part of a special ramp-check series made by inspectors from the Directorate of Airspace and Aircraft Operations (DKPPU) and the Office of the Airport Authority in each embarkation on July 16-20. “We have prepared the aircraft and it is technically good,” said Agus.
Agus said Garuda had prepared 13 aircraft of five Boeing B777-300 with 393 passengers capacity, three B747-400 airplanes with 455 passengers capacity, four Airbus A330-300 with 360 passenger capacity and one A330-200 with 325 passengers capacity.
Meanwhile, Saudia Airlines prepared 18 units of 11 Boeing B777-300 with 410 passengers capacity and seven units B747-400 with 450 passengers capacity.
Agus explained in the period of special ramp-check the number of inspections from 12 locations of the airport is 57 checks and individual inspection of 21 aircraft.
Under the Decree of the Minister of Religious Affairs, the airlines designated to serve hajj flights this year are Garuda Indonesia and Saudia Airlines. There are 12 airports used as the embarkation and debarkation of hajj 2018, as well as five airports for intermediary embarkation.
