VP Jusuf Kalla: Search on PLN Director is Too Open for Reporters

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Jusuf Kalla deemed the search on state-owned electricity company PLN president director Sofyan Baasir conducted by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) was too open.
“Unfortunately, it [the search] is too open for reporters, it should be a close one,” said Jusuf Kalla at his residence, Jakarta, Sunday, July 15.
Jusuf Kalla admitted the search was on the hand of KPK. However, it might spark different views among the public as he considered PLN had strict rules on the matter.
“I trust Sofyan has a good experience so far. He even strict in choosing a contractor,” Jusuf Kalla noted.
Earlier, the anti-graft body searched the residence of Sofyan Basir at Bendungan Hilir, Central Jakarta. KPK spokesperson Febridiansyah said the search was related to bribery case of the steam-fueled power plant (PLTU) I in Riau province which involved the leader of the House`s Energy Commission Eni Saragih.
KPK suspected Eni Saragih received a bribe of Rp500 million from another suspect Johannes Budisutrisno Kotjo, the APAC Group chairman, to ease the ratification on PLTU Riau I construction project.
