PPP Reveals Upcoming Meeting to Discuss Jokowi`s Running Mate

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - United Development Party (PPP) Chairman Romahurmuziy announced that party leaders who support President Joko `Jokowi` Widodo at the upcoming election will gather in a meeting on July 15, to discuss Jokowi`s running mate.
“I have just arrived from the Bogor Palace with the president. We scheduled the right time for a meeting between the president and every political party chairman,” said Romi at the PPP headquarters in Central Jakarta on July 4.
Romi explained that currently, five political parties that have confirmed their support for Jokowi in the 2019 Presidential Election. The parties include PPP, Golkar, Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Hanura, and Nasdem.
Asked upon his readiness to be Jokowi’s vice president, Romi explained that he has yet to discuss it with the president. “The essential thing is that we must confirm the coalition’s final formation,” said Romi.
Meanwhile, PPP General Secretary Arsul Sani mentioned nine out of ten potential running-mates for President Jokowi are Muhaimin Iskandar from the National Awakening Party (PKB), Muhammad Romahurmuziy from the PPP, Wiranto from Hanura, Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko, MUI Chairman Ma’aruf Amin, and former Chairman of the Constitutional Court (MK) Mahfud MD.
