Asian Games 2018; Police Uncover Crime Syndicate Led by Rich Boss

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Metro Police are set to dispatch its members on an operation against thieves and robbers ahead of the 18th Asian Games. The instruction was a direct order from the Jakarta Metro Police Chief Insp. Gen. Idham Aziz.
“The police chief ordered every police resort to conduct an operation to fight against robbers and thieves following the 2018 Asian Games event,” said Jakarta Police Spokesman Argo Yuwono yesterday, June 29.
Previously, police announced the arrest of two perpetrators who robbed the Director General of Public Works and Public Housing Syarif Burhanudin in Kota Tua, West Jakarta. Police announced that one of the suspects had to be shot dead for resisting arrest.
Based on the testimony of the surviving suspects, a robber’s syndicate based in Teluk Gong, North Jakarta exists. Police followed-up this information and managed to arrest five people highly suspected to be robbers that operate in Indonesia’s capital.
Police further said that it is currently hunting down the captain of a robber syndicate calling themselves Geng Tenda Oranye (orange tent gang) of Teluk Gong.
“We have detected the syndicate’s boss who is a filthy rich person,” said West Jakarta Police Chief Sr. Comr. Hengky Hariadi at his office on Friday, June 30. Police will continue to provide Jakarta residents security before and during the 2018 Asian Games.
