TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi this morning, President Joko Widodo is scheduled to discuss various bilateral issues including maritime, economic, socio-cultural, as well as regional and global issues. Additionally, a number of Memorandum of Understandings will be signed by the two country leaders during the meeting.

Indonesian Ambassador to India Sidharto R Suryodipuro said on Monday, May 28 that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's visit to Jakarta from May 29-31 is a momentum to strengthen relationships between the two countries, particularly in the defense, economy and connectivity sectors.

Prime Minister Modi began the series of activities with President Jokowi at the State Palace this morning, after arriving in Jakarta, Tuesday night.

The Prime Minister is also scheduled to visit the visit Kalibata Hero Cemetery and meet the Indian communities in Jakarta.

The 14th Prime Minister of India is also scheduled to attend the second Indonesia-India CEO Forum, which was first initiated on the grounds of enhancing business cooperations between the two countries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's official visit to Indonesia is his first, which is a follow-up to President Widodo's visits to India in December 2016 and January 2018, when he attended the ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit.

PM Narendra Modi's visit is also to welcome the 70th anniversary of Indonesia's diplomatic relations with India, which will be next year.
