Indonesian IS Leader Aman Abdurrahman Charged with Death Sentence

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The prosecutor in a trial in the case of terrorist convict Aman Abdurrahman alias Oman Rochman charged the leader of terrorist organization Jemaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) with a death sentence today in South Jakarta District Court.
“Based on the Law, we demand the panel of judges impose a death sentence [to Aman],“ said the prosecutor Anita Dewayani, reading the file demands in South Jakarta District Court, on Friday, May 18.
In the trial on February 15, 2017, Aman was said to have instructed five terror attacks namely the Kampung Melayu and Sarinah bombings in Jakarta, Church bombings in Samarinda, terror attacks in North Sumatra Police HQ, and the attacks against police in Bima, West Nusa Tenggara.

A number of witnesses and expert witnesses took to stand in the trial for the past two months to support the facts.
Amid the trial proceedings, Aman Abdurrahman was brought up following the series of terrorist attacks in the country considering the Jemaah Ansharud Daulah (JAD) was behind the incidents in Surabaya and Riau in the past week.
The prosecutor's charge towards Aman Abdurrahman is based on Article 14 in conjunction with Article 6 and Article 15 in conjunction with Article 7 of Law No. 15/2003 on Counterterrorism. Thus, Aman Abdurrahman was charged with a death sentence or a life imprisonment.
