TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The House of Representatives (DPR) Commission V on transportation has summoned Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi in a work meeting that takes place today. The meeting will discuss the demands of the online-based motorcycle taxi or known as the online ojek driver that previously staged a rally in DPR building on last Monday.
“The meeting is scheduled at 13:00,” said the commission chairman Fary Djemi Francis via a short message to Tempo, Wednesday, April 25.
Fary said the meeting will take place in the Parliament Building, Senayan, South Jakarta. However, the meeting will be attended by the ministry's general director of land transportation Budi Setiadi on behalf of Minister Budi due to his schedule in 10th National Dialogue in Central Java.
As reported earlier, the House’s Commission V received seven representatives of online ojek drivers after the rally. They urged the government to issue a regulation as their legal standing and increase the existing tariff fare. “Even though we didn’t believe [the government] anymore, we have the right to ask for our rights,” said Irwan, a driver from Bandung, on Monday.
