TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The South Jakarta District Court has granted the pretrial plea upon the confiscation of the Equanimity luxury yacht by the police`s criminal investigation department (Bareskrim) of special economic directorate on Tuesday, April 17.
“The confiscation of the Equanimity Cayman yacht based on the police order issued on February 26 is invalid and unlawful,” said Judge Ratmoho at the South Jakarta District Court yesterday.

Previously, the police revealed that the equanimity luxury yacht was seized as the main evidence of a Rp3.5 trillion money laundering scheme. The yacht was discovered at Tanjung Benoa in Bali after it was being hunted down by United States’ FBI for four years.
The Equanimity yacht is also suspected to be related to Malaysia's US$4.5 billion investment funds corruption known as the 1MDB case. The Indonesian police assisted US authorities after receiving an official FBI request on February 21.

Equanimity Cayman Ltd filed an official pretrial request for the confiscation on March 20 which questioned the legality of the confiscation. Judge Ratmoho said that Bareskrim did not legally confiscate the Equanimity yacht based on Constitution Law No. 1/2006.
