TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Prosperity and Justice Party (PKS) President Sohibul Iman, said that Amien Rais' comments on "God's political party" and "Satan's political party" should not have even been mentioned in the first place.
"I have not followed that news, but I think ethically it should not have been mentioned at all," said Sohibul Iman at Jakarta City Hall on Sunday, April 15, 2018.
Earlier news reports suggested that National Mandate Party (PAN) senior politician Amien Rais made a comparison between a so-called "God's (Allah's) Party" and "Satan's Party" during his public lecture at the Baiturrahim Mosque in South Jakarta on Friday, April 13, 2018.
The statement was considered controversial by the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI).
"It is certainly unwise to categorize political parties by claiming one as 'God's Party' and another as 'Satan's Party'. Who decides on that and what are the parameters?" said PSI Deputy Secretary Danik Eka Rahmaningtias on Saturday, April 14, 2018.
