Cyclists of 38th IVCA will cycle for 20 days from Tangerang-Bali

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Tangerang City Officials recently held the vintage bicycle jamboree entitled the 38th International Veteran Cycle Association (IVCA) on Saturday, March 24. This has sparked the interest of City Officials to host an international vintage bicycle jamboree in 2019.
Their desire to do so was mentioned by Tangerang City regional secretary Dadi Budaeri on Saturday, just after inaugurating the participants of the 2018 IVCA.
“Tangerang City has many antique-style bicycles (known as ontel) and other types of bicycles. We invite them to be the host of an international jamboree,” said Dadi on Saturday, March 24. He also hopes that it would improve the city’s tourism.
The 2018 IVCA is participated by 10 core team cyclists and hundreds of others that will cycle their way as far as 1,500 kilometers to Sanur, Bali. Within 20 days from March 24 to April 12, these 10 cyclists are expected to reach the region that is considered to be one of Indonesia’s most notable tourism spot.
Once the cyclists reach their destination, they will also participate in the 38th International Bali-Indonesia Congress and Rally IVCA on April 14-15.
The Chairman of the Indonesian vintage bicycle community (Kosti) Joko Rinto Prihatono said that it is an honor for Indonesia to become the host nation of the world’s oldest vintage bicycle congress and rally association.
The IVCA 2018 participants started their journey from Anyer Beach and are set to reach Sanur Beach in Bali within 20 days and travel past 20 cities such as Cilegon, Serang, Tangerang, Jakarta, Bekasi, Karawang, Indramayu, Tegal, Pekalongan, and Denpasar.
