Water Recreation in Bali Still Safe from Tropical Cyclone Markus

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Water recreation activities at Mertasari Beach, Sanur, Denpasar City, Bali until now is normal and not affected by Tropical Cyclone Markus which is predicted to approach Bali area.
"Until now, we have not felt the bad impact of tropical cyclone Markus that is predicted would hit the area of Bali Island," said Manager of Blue Marine Water Sport Sanur, Putu Cahya said on Saturday, March 24.
Putu Cahya admitted the Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG)has called on the people to be aware of the impact of tropical cyclone Markus. "It is said that the weather change will occur in April."
He also called on the water recreation guides to raising awareness while providing the best service to domestic and foreign tourists.
The water recreation highly desirable by travelers include jet skiing, banana boat, and snorkeling.
BMKG informed that currently in the Indian Ocean, the Tropical Cyclone Markus occurs. The cyclone affects the weather in Indonesia, including Jakarta.
"It affects the wind blows, especially in the western or northern part of Jakarta," Head of BMKG Public Relations Hary Tirto Djatmiko told Tempo, Thursday, March 22.
According to BMKG website, a tropical cyclone is a massive storm with an average radius of 150 to 200 kilometers. It is formed above the vast ocean that generally has a warm sea surface temperature of over 26.5 degrees Celsius.
Tropical cyclone is also known by various terms on earth. If it is formed in the Western Pacific Ocean, it is called as tropical storms or typhoons. It called a hurricane if it is formed in the Atlantic Ocean. Tropical Cyclone Markus is formed around India or Australia.
