Jokowi Set to Welcome Al Quran Memorizers and Reciters Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is set to welcome members of the 10th ASEAN-Pacific Al Quran and Hadith reciters and memorizers competition (Musabaqah) at the State Palace today.
The participants will be accompanied by Prince Khalid bin Abdul Aziz as the prince’s social charity board of trustee’s chairman.
According to the agenda released by the palace's press and media protocol, President Jokowi’s meeting with Prince Khalid will take place at 15:30 PM today at the Merdeka Palace after receiving the members of the Al Quran memorizers at the State Palace.
“I express my appreciation to the Saudi Arabian government for the participation in holding the Musabaqah each year because it has a major benefit for us all,” said Religious Affairs Minister Lukman Hakim Saifuddin on January 10.
Attache’ for Saudi Arabia Sa’ad bin Husein Annamasy said that last year, the competition was participated involved 17 countries from the 30 countries that were invited. The number of participants in 2018 has not changed, however, Sa’ad asked Indonesia to send more female Al Quran memorizers (hafizah) for this year and the upcoming events.
