Gerindra yet to Declare Prabowo as Presidential Candidate

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party has not yet declared Prabowo Subianto as its presidential candidate despite the approaching registration period.
Gerindra Party’s deputy chairman Fadli Zon said that the party is still waiting for the right moment to announce a candidate to be endorsed in the upcoming presidential election.

“The date will be set, and we’re still considering other schedules,’ said Fadli at the Senayan Parliament Office Complex in South Jakarta on Monday, February 26.
Fadli suggested that Gerindra will definitely endorse Prabowo in the upcoming election.
“So far, it can be said that one hundred percent of Gerindra Party members support Prabowo as the Presidential candidate,” said the House of Representatives (DPR) Deputy Speaker.

Fadli added that Gerindra has not yet decided any political figure to run with Prabowo. However, Fadli maintained that it will be decided after talks with other political parties.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) has officially declared Joko Widodo (Jokowi) as their 2019-2024 presidential candidate at a national working meeting in Bali, which was attended by PDIP Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri.
