TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Police has strengthened security for some vital objects and public places, following the suicide bomb attack in Kampung Melayu, East Jakarta on late Wednesday.
"We will strengthen security in places, such as shopping centers, and other public places," Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono said Friday, May 26.
Argo said the police would deploy its personnel to guard bus stations, railway stations, airports, traditional markets, as well as shopping centers.
It would also intensify police patrolling units and secure Ramadan markets, temporary markets usually active during the fasting month.
Two explosions were reported at the Transjakarta bus terminal in East Jakarta at around 9 pm, killing three police officers and two alleged suicide bombers.
Dozens of people injured in the blasts are still being treated at several hospitals in Jakarta.
