TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo on Saturday attended the opening ceremony of the 30th ASEAN Summit held in Manila, the Philippines.
The opening ceremony was also attended by 10 head of states and heads of government of ASEAN member countries.
The opening ceremony was held at the Philippines International Convention Center (PICC) at around 10 amlocal time.
President Jokowi was scheduled to attend the plenary session, a joint photo session, a luncheon, and the singing of the ASEAN Declaration.
"In the afternoon, the President will attend the closing ceremony,” said Head of Information, Press and Media Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat Bey Machmuddin on Saturday in Manila.
For the record, this year’s ASEAN Summit adopts the theme ‘Partnering for Change, Engaging the World’. The Summit is expected to create a peace ecosystem and economic growth and to push the success of the ASEAN Community.
A number of major issues highlighted during the Summit are economic connectivity, social issues and infrastructures.
