TEMPO.CO, Kendari - The four hikers who were reported missing on Mekongga Mountains in Kolaka District, Southeast Sulawesi, have been found. Two of them however, were found dead.
Kendari Search and Rescue Agency spokesman Wahyudi said that the two hikers who survived the mountains have received intensive hypothermia treatment.
"We heard from the evacuation team that two other hikers, Edi Mulyadi and Toto, had died. Evacuation process of the victims was conducted on Monday, March 13, 2017," Wahyudi told Tempo on Tuesday, March 14, 2017.
Previously, six hikers climbed up the Mekongga Mountain on Sunday, March 6, 2017. The hikers however, were obstructed by fog as they started their descent.
Two hikers Lili Angga and Rahim decided to continue descending the mountains to seek help at an outpost in Tinokari Village in North Kolaka, whereas two hikers accompanied the other two who suffered hypothermia.
