TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Boy Rafli Amar said the investigation on a blasphemy charge against Basuki Purnama Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok is almost completed.
"The criminal division said it's 90 percent done; we only have to question a number of expert witnesses left," he said in Jakarta Thursday, November 24, 2016.
Boy said the police plan to assemble a dossier resume on Friday, November 25. He asked the public, who are paying a lot of attention on the case, to respect the legal process.
On Monday, November 22, Ahok went through his first questioning as the suspect. He was asked 27 questions for about 8.5 hours since 09:00 in the morning.
"The suspect reiterated his previous explanation. Pak Ahok only added [details] to his previous statements to enlighten the case," Ahok's attorney Sirra Prayuna said at the Police Headquarters on Monday.
Sirra said the defense counsel will bring seven witnesses and 14 experts to provide testimonies. "This week we are asked to submit their names to the investigator," he said.
The Police's criminal investigation department named Ahok as a suspect in the case of alleged blasphemy. Ahok is charged with Article 156a of the Criminal Code for his speech at the Seribu Islands on September 27, 2016, in which he mentioned verse 51 of the Quran's Surah Al-Maidah.
