TEMPO.CO, Batu - Chairman of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah, Busyro Muqoddas assessed that the plan of the Third Act to Defend Islam (Aksi Bela Islam III) has a shifted purpose since the movement is now not only demanding a firm legal action to be taken for the alleged blasphemy suspect; inactive Jakarta Governor Basuki ‘Ahok’ Tjahaja Purnama.

“The agenda is not clear, why (should we) participate?” he said on Tuesday, November 22, 2016.

The former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) leader sees that there is a hidden agenda behind the third action that is planned to be held on November 25, or December 2. According to him, the movement is no longer purely to defend Islam. The rumor said that the act was also to do the coup towards President Joko Widodo or Jokowi.

Busyro said that he did not know who was the persons that have funded the movement. The perpetrator would be much respected if they would criticize the President directly and openly, he said. In a democracy climate, there is a mechanism to deliver protests, either if it is positive or even negative. He also regrets provocative acts that often exists in social media.

“There’s a manipulation; between on the social media and in the real (world). This (demonstration) is utilizing the power of the people,” he said. Busyro has urged the people of Muhammadiyah to not participate in the Third Act to Defend Islam, especially bringing Muhammadiyah attributes to the protest.
