TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Finance Ministry`s Tax Directorate General is targeting to have as many MSMEs as possible to join the tax amnesty program. According to the DG's data, the number of MSMEs with taxpayer's IDs (NPWP) has reached 600,000.
"We don’t have an exact target, but we want as many MSMEs as possible because many of them have problems with their taxes, some are not correct and some don’t even have a taxpayer's ID," the Tax DG's spokesperson Hestu Yoga Saksama said on Tuesday, October 11.
The director general Ken Dwijugiasteadi had said that during the first amnesty period, only 69.500 taxpaying MSMEs participated, whilst there are 600,000 MSMEs registered as taxpayers.
The Tax DG said they will work with business associations to provide technical guidance to MSMEs, and encourage them to register with the tax amnesty program.
"We understand that they also need tax amnesty. They're enthusiastic about it—but they are having problems, which is why we will give them technical guidance," Yoga said.
The second period of the tax amnesty program began on October 1st. As of today, the state has only managed to collect Rp218.25 billion from retribution.
Meanwhile, the total revenue collected by the tax amnesty program since it was first rolled-out in July has amounted to Rp97.37 trillion, comprising of Rp93.92 trillion collected retribution, Rp3.06 trillion paid arrears, and Rp382.19 billion of termination of preliminary evidence examination.
