TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo is optimistic that Jakarta’s mass rapid transit (MRT) project will begin partial operations by 2019. Jokowi this morning inspected the MRT project in Dukuh Atas, Central Jakarta.
“I see that it is progressing rapidly. I would like to say that the route from Lebak Bulus to Hotel Indonesia will be completed by 2019,” Jokowi said in Dukuh Atas.
Jokowi went on to say that the length of Lebak Bulus-Hotel Indonesia route is roughly 15.7km and the travel time is 30 minutes, which is faster than that of cars or motorcycles.
President confirmed that he will periodically monitor the development of the MRT project.
Jokowi inspected the project with Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, State-Owned Enterprise Minister Rini Soemarno, Transport Minister Budi Karya and Public Works Minister Basuki Hadimuljono.
