TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State Owned Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno signalled that the evaluation on fuel prices will not resulted in price changes. "There will be no price increase for [all type] of fuel," Rini said on Friday, September 30, 2016.
Previously, there were reports that the government plans to reduce the price of Premium type fuel. The price for Premium was said to be reduced by Rp. 300 per liter, to a level of Rp. 6,150 per liter starting from October 2016. Meanwhile, the price of subsidized diesel fuel (Solar) was said to be increased by Rp. 600 per liter to a level of Rp. 5,750 per liter.
Rini ascertained that there will be no changes on fuel prices, while Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution refused to comment on the issue. The former governor of Bank Indonesia said that fuel prices will not change.
However, Darmin later said that he has no exact information. "We just wait. Don't think [the changes] are already in effect," Darmin said.
